Dhalia Bumbacca, MBA

Co-Founder of WellFed Community

Dhalia Bumbaca is Director of Development & Programming at WellBuilt Cities. She joined the team after co-founding WellFed Community, a social enterprise working to build community food sovereignty, that now is part of WellBuilt Cities Ecosystem. A proud USF Bull, Dhalia received her undergraduate degree and Master’s degree at the University of South Florida and continues to work closely with students, faculty, and staff in order to advance academic understanding of community development as well as further research in food systems.

In practice, WellFed Community works with other community organizations to host cooking classes, conduct food demonstrations, and curate other educational programming around cooking, nutrition, sustainability and gardening. An example of the impact of their work, in 2023, WellFed distributed over 60,000lbs of produce just in the University Area at three different UACDC sites. Furthermore, they provided over 300+hours of cooking and nutrition education to over 300 families on a monthly basis. Outside of the University Area, WellFe works outside of the downtown core redistributing food from local grocers 6x a week to those in need.
